I have been feeling very existential recently, and this post has really explained exactly what's on my mind. I'm painfully aware of the state of the world, whilst believing that things can be better and that I can make a difference.

Alongside this, it's hard to engage with traditional therapy when they don't do a lot to delve deep into these thought processes. Most of the CBT I've had focused more on changing the thoughts that I was having, instead of understanding how our surroundings inform such thoughts.

It's hard to believe in a better world when we are constantly exposed to terror and death online. We definitely need a better way to approach this, and admitting that these thoughts exist, is the first step. As well as letting them exist, rather than pretending they are solely a result of a chemical imbalance in the brain.
